Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a round pie dish.
Reduce the chocolate cookies to fine crumbs by either using a food processor or by placing the cookies in a plastic bag and using a heavy rolling pin to smash them into cookie dust.
Mix the melted butter and the crushed cookies.
With your fingers, spread the cookie/butter mixture into the pie dish, tamping down with either your fingers or the bottom of a cup until the entire pie dish is covered with an even layer of crust.
Bake, uncovered, in oven for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
In a heavy bottom saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat until smooth, mixing constantly.
Remove pan from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined. Let cool for a few minutes.
With a handheld blender, mix in eggs, one at a time. Beat well after adding each egg.
Add flour, vanilla, and salt to mixture. Beat until smooth and ingredients are entirely combined.
Pour batter into prepared chocolate crust. Mixture will come to the top. Do not worry, it will not overflow while baking.
Bake for 45-50 minutes.
Cool and enjoy!
